Privacy Policy
The short version
- The contents of files you open in our apps are never sent anywhere.
- We do not collect personal information — no name, address or email. No account is required.
- The apps contain no usage tracking and no telemetry, and show no advertising.
- The only network traffic is buying Pro and confirming that you own it.
- We only receive what you choose to type into the contact form. Giving an email address is optional.
- This website counts visits, using a method that sets no cookies and does not track individuals.
1. What this policy covers
- PDF Sort & Print
- PDF Markup & Redact
- PDF Privacy Checker
- This website (okinawasoftwarelab.com)
All three applications are distributed through the Microsoft Store. Because they are built on the same principles, they share a single policy. The points where they differ are gathered at the end of section 2.
2. The applications
2-1. Personal information
The applications collect no personal information whatsoever — no name, no address, no email address, nothing that identifies you. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.
2-2. The files you open
Every PDF, image and SVG file you open is processed entirely on your own computer.
- Neither the contents nor the names of your files are transmitted anywhere. Every feature works with the network disconnected.
- The applications never rewrite or delete your original file. Removing information always produces a separate copy.
- A file is written to disk only when you yourself choose to save, to a location you choose.
2-3. Network communication
The applications communicate with a server in one situation only:
- Purchasing Pro (an in-app purchase) and confirming that a purchase exists.
This happens through the Microsoft Store. Only purchase information is involved; the contents of your files are never part of it. Payment is handled entirely by Microsoft, and neither the applications nor the publisher ever receives your card number or similar details. What the publisher can see is aggregated sales information provided by Microsoft. For how Microsoft handles information, please refer to the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
2-4. Usage tracking and advertising
The applications perform no analytics and no telemetry, and display no advertising. There is no mechanism by which the publisher could learn which features you used, or when you launched the app.
2-5. Settings stored on your computer
Each application stores its settings — such as display language — and a record that a purchase was confirmed, as files in your own per-user application data area. These contain no personal information and are never transmitted.
2-6. Notes on individual applications
PDF Sort & Print creates a temporary file in your computer's temporary folder when you use "print without saving", and deletes it automatically the next time it starts. That temporary file is never transmitted either.
PDF Markup & Redact flattens pages to images when saving redacted documents, so that text underneath a black box cannot be recovered. Saving and printing happen only when you ask for them.
PDF Privacy Checker can save a report containing text and page images found during inspection. Such a report may contain sensitive information, so please store it, and share it with others, with the same care you would apply to the original document.
2-7. Limits of detection (PDF Privacy Checker)
The application detects the common ways in which text and metadata are left behind in PDFs and images, but file formats are endlessly varied and it cannot guarantee that every possible technique will be found. Text that has been baked into an image — a photograph of writing, for example — is outside its scope. Please treat its results as informative, and carry out your own final check on documents that matter. The publisher cannot accept liability for damages arising from use of the applications.
3. The contact form
The Contact button inside each application, and the links on this website, open a contact form built with Google Forms. Pressing the button simply opens the form in your browser; the application never transmits anything by itself.
The form asks for:
- The application name, its version, and whether you use the free or Pro version (the first two are filled in automatically when opened from the app)
- The type of enquiry and your message
- An email address for a reply (optional) — only if you would like one. You can submit the form leaving it blank.
What you send is used only to reply to you and to improve the applications. It is never passed to third parties, and never used for advertising or sales outreach.
How long we keep it, and how to have it deleted
Enquiries are kept with no fixed expiry date. A request sent months ago often becomes a feature later — much of what exists in these applications came from exactly that.
That said, if you ask us to delete your enquiry, we will do so promptly. Please get in touch through the form below. Mentioning roughly when you wrote and what it was about makes it possible to find the right entry with certainty.
4. This website
Apart from links to the contact form, this website has no input fields and no login.
- Hosting — the site is served through Cloudflare. Technical information such as the connecting IP address is processed by Cloudflare in the course of delivering the page.
- Analytics — Cloudflare Web Analytics is used to count visits. It sets no cookies and does not identify or track individuals; we cannot tell who visited.
- Web fonts — Google Fonts is used for typography, so displaying a page causes a request to Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com).
- Advertising — there is none, and no advertising cookies or tracking mechanisms are installed.
5. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revision will be published on this page. For significant changes, the updated date will be revised and the changes stated explicitly.
